성경말씀: 마가복음 4:26-34

26 ○ 예수께서 또 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. “하나님의 나라는 이렇게 비유할 수 있다. 농부가 땅에 씨를 뿌려 놓으면, 27 그 씨는, 농부가 자든 깨어 있든 밤낮으로 싹을 틔우고 스스로 자라난다. 씨가 어떻게 해서 그렇게 스스로 자라나는지 농부는 알지 못한다. 28 그것은 땅이 저절로 씨를 자라나게 하기 때문이다. 처음에는 싹이 돋고, 다음에는 이삭이 나고, 마침내 낟알이 알차게 맺힌다. 29 그래서 곡식이 익으면, 농부는 낫을 대어 곡식을 거두어들인다. 추수 때가 되었기 때문이다.”

 

30 ○ 예수께서 또 말씀하셨다. “하나님의 나라를 어디에 비할 수 있을까? 무슨 비유로 하나님의 나라를 설명할 수 있을까? 31 그렇다. 하나님의 나라는 ‘겨자씨’와도 같다. 겨자씨는 모든 씨들 가운데 가장 작지만, 32 일단 땅에 심어지면 어떤 식물보다도 더 크게 자라서, 나중에는 공중의 새들이 그 가지에 깃들일 만큼 무성하게 된다.” 33 ○ 예수께서는 사람들이 알아듣기 쉽도록 많은 비유를 들어 가르치셨다. 34 그래서 비유가 아니면 말씀하시지 않으셨지만, 제자들과 함께 있을 때는 그 뜻을 따로 설명해 주셨다. 26 Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. 28 The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. 29 And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.”

30 Jesus said, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it? 31 It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, 32 but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.” 33 Jesus used many similar stories and illustrations to teach the people as much as they could understand. 34 In fact, in his public ministry he never taught without using parables; but afterward, when he was alone with his disciples, he explained everything to them.(New Living Translation)

1 이 무렵, 예수께서는 희생제물을 드리려던 갈릴리 사람들이 빌라도에게 학살되었다는 말을 몇몇 사람들에게서 전해 들으셨다. 2 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “죽임당한 그 갈릴리 사람들이 다른 갈릴리 사람들보다 죄가 더 많아서 그 같은 변을 당했다고 생각하시오? 3 아니오! 내가 당신들에게 분명히 말하지만, 당신들도 회개하지 않으면 그렇게 멸망할 것이오. 4 또 실로암에 있는 망대가 무너져서, 거기에 치여 죽은 열여덟의 사람들은 어떻다고 생각하시오? 그들이 다른 예루살렘 사람들보다 특별히 죄가 더 많아서 그렇게 되었다고 생각하시오? 5 아니오! 내가 당신들에게 분명히 말하지만, 당신들도 회개하지 않으면 그렇게 멸망할 것이오.” 6 ○ 예수께서 또 비유로 말씀하셨다. “어떤 사람이 자기 과수원에 무화과나무 한 그루를 심었소. 그 사람은 무화과나무에 열매가 맺혔는지 보려고 여러 번 가 보았지만, 번번이 실망하고 말았소. 7 그러다가 마침내 그 사람은 과수원지기에게 말했소. ‘보시오, 내가 3년 동안이나 이 무화과나무를 참고 기다려 왔건만, 단 한 개의 무화과도 맺히지 않았소! 그러니 이 무화과나무를 당장 베어 버리시오. 무엇 때문에 아까운 땅만 허비하고 있단 말이오?’ 8 그러자 과수원지기가 대답하였소. ‘주인님, 금년에만 더 그냥 두십시오. 제가 나무 둘레에 고랑을 파고, 거름을 듬뿍 주도록 하겠습니다. 9 그렇게 해서 내년에 무화과가 맺히면 좋고, 만일 그때 가서도 열매가 맺히지 않으면 그때는 미련 없이 베어 버리도록 하겠습니다.’”(쉬운말 성경)

And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. 4 And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? 5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.” 6 Then Jesus told this story: “A man planted a fig tree in his garden and came again and again to see if there was any fruit on it, but he was always disappointed. 7 Finally, he said to his gardener, ‘I’ve waited three years, and there hasn’t been a single fig! Cut it down. It’s just taking up space in the garden.’ 8 “The gardener answered, ‘Sir, give it one more chance. Leave it another year, and I’ll give it special attention and plenty of fertilizer. 9 If we get figs next year, fine. If not, then you can cut it down.’”(New Living Translation)
